An Occupied City

I felt quite embarrassed, last Saturday, walking round Oxford with some American friends. I felt I had to explain that the Rainbow 'diversity' flag did not normally fly from the flagpole of every college. "I'm afraid it's Pink Week", I rather wetly said.

When film-makers produce WWII films, they very often show Swastika flags hanging down the fronts of buildings in occupied cities. It must have been a good period for having shares in flag-making businesses! It's much the same over here now, with the fascist 'rainbow' flags much in evidence. We are, indeed, an occupied land. I wonder who is carting off the profits.

Although Abortion is still an important cause for Establishment Fascism, the more up-to-the-minute trendy ikon is now transgenderism. Our papers regale us with stories of police activity to crush  Christianity and Decency and plain Common Sense by categorising them as 'Transphobia'. An old woman had the police in her house telling her off. A young mother was taken to the plodshop for seven hours, despite her autistic child and the baby at her breast. A witty TV scriptwriter (the creator of Father Ted) is being hauled through the courts. Getting one's pronouns wrong is a dangerous mistake.

British Police, you indignantly ask me, persecuting old women and nursing mothers? You needn't be surprised. It's happened before. When the Germans occupied our Channel Islands, the police collaborated manfully with the occupiers in rounding up Jews. (So did the governing elite of the Islands; a post-War intelligence report made clear that while every attempt was made to protect the Freemasons, no protest was made at the removal of Jews. After Liberation, it was decided that it was more in the interest of rebuilding national cohesion for the top islanders to be knighted rather than hanged.)

Policemen, of course, are only human. And they are trained to do as they are told. If Sir says"Round up the Jews", then your good English bobbies will get on with it. If the Gender-Fascists who run our Police Forces tell them to intimidate helpless citizens, the only question will be "How loud shall we shout?" If they are made to sit through Diversity Awareness Lectures, I doubt if many of them will get their cards marked and their careers ruined by protesting.

So we are all going to be bullied to acknowledge that a human with silicone breasts and a vagina that leads nowhere is a woman ... or pay the penalty of denying Caesar his pinch of incense. But there are compensations. We find, standing with us, some of the old-style feminists: such as dear old Germaine Greer, as brilliant as ever she was in the days of The Female Eunuch, who is now no-platformed for her preposterous notion that women are women and men are not women. And in the Times newspaper (on Saturdays) there is a very able columnist called Janice Turner, who knows her facts and knows how to deploy stylish rhetorical skills. Cicero would have been proud of her.

Whenever intelligent people of whatever background realise that it is their duty to resist the crass and sinister idiocies of the Zeitgeist, they are walking in the right direction. There is hope for humanity.

I remember being both encouraged and entertained to hear Germaine Greer say, à propos men who thought that they were really women. "How do they know?" She is not a particular idol of mine, but in this case she seemed to speak complete common sense. Is there really an epistemological trick by which we can now access the internal experiences of other genders - or species?

In any organisation it is natural for the people to go for the 'quick wins' or management speak 'the low hanging fruit'. So it seems for the police, arresting breast feeding mothers is far easier than catching nasty burglars who might get rough.

I wouldn't personally identify myself very much with Linehan or Greer. They remind me of the Jacobins who found themselves guillotined by those succeeding Jacobins who shared their ideas, but only in a more extreme fashion.

It is twistedly logical that Greer's notion of equality should eventually lead to the extreme of biological equality, for it is the premise of 'equality' which is wrong, in the first place. Vive les differences.

A brave post and much appreciated.

By the way, while the police are right on the enormity of wrong pronouns, they overlook trivialities such as burglaries, am I correct?

I had the exact same feeling when I was in Dublin last autumn: rainbow flags everywhere, in breathless anticipation of the upcoming 'Pride March'. ('Pride' used to be one of the seven deadly sins; sodomy was so bizarre it didn't even make the list.) This was, I distinctly felt, what it must have been like in Paris when all those swastikas fluttered so proudly.

It wasn't long afterwards, if I have my chronology right, that once-Catholic Ireland, with the full support and connivance of its homosexual PM, reversed its constitutional ban on abortion.

Here in England, the BBC and Channel 4 try to out-do each other in championing the normalisation of homosexuality and other perversions (with our money, no less). It's nice that the few curmudgeonly voices Fr H alludes to still speak from whatever platform is left to them, but really, it's far from enough. Where are our Catholic bishops? They have a teaching office. Why aren't they speaking out against this depravity, as they did in the days of the early church?

(Oh yeah, now I remember why ...)

It's nice that there are a few

Dear Father. Not a few have observed that the movement for Free Speech was actually a war against Governmental Blasphemy Laws and so now the same sort of ideologues who realised free speech are those who want to punish your speech now that they have control of the switch points of communications.

Said another way, they consider themselves God and so their thoughts and ideas are sacred and the ideas and rhetoric of you and your ilk make you heretics when you are not apostates.

The secular Gods are not like the Popes ands Prelates of the modern Catholic Church because the ideologues will use their coercitive power to protect their hard won turf and punish heretics and apostates.

Of course, this is all another justifiable reason to advance Happy Hour by another sixty minutes.

Cheers...

Regarding 'the rainbow' and its uses:

At the Canadian end of The Rainbow Bridge from Canada to the US there is an imposing tower - it even has bells. At the base is a large tablet on which is written the story of Noah, and the Rainbow God showed as a sign of....etc.

If you wait in line to get through the Custom windows you have lots of time to read it - gosh, it's gotta be 15 feet high. I often wonder how this little marvel slipped through the fine-toothed comb of the homosexualist folks.

Dear Fr., Tony V asked, vis-à-vis transgender and other sexual weirdness and perversions so popular amongst the media and political establishment today: "WHERE ARE OUR CATHOLIC BISHOPS?" (Caps mine) He may well ask! I've often wondered that myself. He went on: "They have a teaching office. Why aren't they speaking out against this depravity, as they did in the days of the early church?" It's obvious why. Because most of 'em are professional career bishops who want to keep their jobs and hopefully get promoted. (Look at Cupich.) They are basically politicians who owe their jobs to a Politician-Pope and keep their heads down. They suck-up to the UK Establishment and the regime in the Vatican. The poor little things are not valiant Christians as were the REAL LEADERS & APOSTOLIC TEACHERS, the great Bishops of Catholic history! THEY taught and led their flocks, even unto death as martyrs. The UK today has a bunch of sad little insignificant Bishops and tiny Cardinals cowering before the populist vastly immoral culture; infamous in their lack of valour. OH, just a thought: perhaps some of 'em actually agree with the UK establishment's present pop-immorality? If they do, they should excommunicate themselves, as it were, by resigning and joining the CoE where most trendy stuff get accepted eventually and are written into doctrine - as long as there are enough votes in the synod. (I really mean no offence to our CofE friends but that does seem to be the truth.)

When Islam takes over officially will the police still arrest the indigenous people for transgressions against transgender pronouns? I have heard most political leaders such as mayors, etc., in London are now Muslim, and Muslims make up a growing segment of the population and they have lots of children, so their ascent to full control seems a given, but when that happens, will they care so deeply about LGBT issues, or is this a temporary phenomenon until they take the reins?

Dear Marl. Yes, as a consequence of the ideology of multiculturalism, the government has now created a system of punishment that the late Sam Francis called Anrcho-Tyranny:

Samuel Francis argued that the problems of managerial state extend to issues of crime and justice. In 1992, he introduced the word “anarcho-tyranny” into the paleocon vocabulary.[28] He once defined it this way: “we refuse to control real criminals (that's the anarchy) so we control the innocent (that's the tyranny).”[29]

In one of his last essays, he explained the concept:

What we have in this country today, then, is both anarchy (the failure of the state to enforce the laws) and, at the same time, tyranny—the enforcement of laws by the state for oppressive purposes; the criminalization of the law-abiding and innocent through exorbitant taxation, bureaucratic regulation, the invasion of privacy, and the engineering of social institutions, such as the family and local schools; the imposition of thought control through “sensitivity training” and multiculturalist curricula, “hate crime” laws, gun-control laws that punish or disarm otherwise law-abiding citizens but have no impact on violent criminals who get guns illegally, and a vast labyrinth of other measures. In a word, anarcho-tyranny.[30] ...

The laws that are enforced are either those that extend or entrench the power of the state and its allies and internal elites … or else they are the laws that directly punish those recalcitrant and “pathological” elements in society who insist on behaving according to traditional norms—people who do not like to pay taxes, wear seat belts, or deliver their children to the mind-bending therapists who run the public schools; or the people who own and keep firearms, display or even wear the Confederate flag, put up Christmas trees, spank their children, and quote the Constitution or the Bible—not to mention dissident political figures who actually run for office and try to do something about mass immigration by Third World populations.[32]
Francis argued that anarcho-tyranny is built into the managerial system and cannot be solved simply by fighting corruption or voting out incumbents. In fact, he says that the system generates a false “conservatism” that encourages people to act passively in the face of perpetual revolution. He concludes that only by devolving power back toward law-abiding citizens can sanity be restored. [33]

++++++++++++++ end quotes +++++++++

In its wisdom, the establishment in America has turned a country that in 1960 was 90% white and over 75 % Christian into a Neo-Yugoslavia; a country that was multi-cultural, multi-religious, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and we all know how well things worked out for Yugoslavia.

America is on a the path to a civil war because the establishment has invited into America a larger number of aliens than the number of German troops who invaded Russia in Operation Barbarossa.

Since 1965, America has had the biggest influx of foreigners into its country than any other country in any other time frame in history.

If a small community of white Christians in, say, Maine, has the Catholic Bishops of America being paid to resettle black muslims from Somalia into that community we know that will make that community stronger because Diversity.

Nothing strengthens a community more than by rapidly remaking it by inviting in and resettling foreigners there who are a different race, who speak a different language, who have a different culture, who have not the slightest clue about or experience with the concepts of English Common Law and who worship a completely different God

I just this week reread Fr Oakes SJ’s lecture from ‘99 on Shakespeare in First Things and he quotes Greer very wisely and approvingly on the bard. Let’s hope she follows her intelligence to its source.

Please remember, that when you praise those who have publicly supported the great evil of abortion all their lives, and who have constantly mocked those of us who wish that the innocents get the same chance at life as we have had .... the same protection of the laws that we had .... please remember that even if you praise them in a witty way ....
please remember that you are praising people who support the greatest evil that can be imagined, the slaughter of the innocents, the slaughter of the innocents before they get even a single moment of pleasure in this world, before they get even one look of love from a fellow human being.

I have some good advice for you. People who suffer so much that they want to change their bodies to resemble the bodies of unattractive people of the opposite sex are VERY DIFFERENT from people who have comfortable lives, who are not all that bright, and who support abortion of the innocent. Yes the two groups overlap, but not completely. Try and remember that. You are obviously very intelligent and it should be easy for you to understand.

Thanks for reading.
And if I missed the fact that Germaine Greer is pro-life, I apologize. I don't think she is, the poor old woman.

Yes, Stephen, true. But references here also include hopes for her conversion.

You are absolutely correct, Stephen. I believe one of the key ingredients in the present-day triumph of Leftism and all its attendant evils is that leftists, unlike us who supposedly stand for sane and decent Christian principles, never EVER attack their own (until, that is, the Revolution is accomplished, at which time they turn on each other and devour one another voraciously). More importantly, psychologically speaking, they never EVER compliment or praise their ideological foes. We, in our foolish and ultimately self-destructive liberal complex to appear fair and charitable, go out of our way to "give the Devil his due." I, for one, will not give the abortion fanatics and other leftist devils "their due," even when in their perversions once in a while they hold something that may be true or somewhat logical (a rarity among them these days). If that makes me uncharitable, unfair and equally ideological, so be it. Better that than the ignominy of being bullied into social non-existence while whimpering about the few things our bullying castigators may be right about. It used to be that Christians had self-respect and dignity---but these, too, have been sacrificed at the altar of ecumenism and social "respectability" (read "cowardice"). Domage, as our French friends, who know something about selling out, would say.
