Note that La Repubblica is not necessarily a newspaper one would expect to be favourably disposed to His Eminence's position.
It also crossed my mind to note the newspaper's recognition of the SCV's independence. It is in the section "Esteri" - foreign news.
That'd be «Indigna, vergonhosa, completamente enganosa» for me.

Probably Cardinal Mueller used feminines to agree with relatio.
