Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me ...

I'm not sure this is true, as I will make clear ...

Someone drew my attention to a sedevacantist/invalidist blog attacking me. It addresses me as "Vicar Hunwicke".

That I take as a compliment. 'Vicar' in Anglican parlance refers to a parish priest who has canonical freehold. I never attained that lofty status. It was always far, far above me. I was never trusted with such glory. So I am absolutely dead choughed to be addressed as Vicar by sede-invalidists. Go further ... call me Monsignore ... Eminence ... Beatitude ... Holiness ... you'll have me eating out of your hand. Like our dear Holy Father, I do so love it when people grovel.

But what really got under my skin was ... this blogger chappie went on to refer to me as a Novus ordo high church apologist!!

Novus Ordo !!! Moi!!! Apologist !!! !!! You can sense how apoplectic this has made me. I will pause for a moment while I take some more of the medicine.

There. Better now, although I think the grandchildren may have been at the gin.

What reminded me of this episode was reading in my Office for Sunday that homily of S Gregory I (commonly regarded, among the more moderate sedes, as a Probably Valid Pope) in which he deploys the word mysterion without apparently being aware that this word refers "univocally" to the episcopate.

The sede blogger chappie claimed the meaning is univocal..

I expect these sede types, on the sly, mumble the Liturgia Horrorum, or whatever it's called, so he probably won't have read S Gregory at Mattins. Someone should buy him a Kennedy's Latin Primer.

I'm amused by the use of inverted commas by sedes, I have been waiting for "Mr" McCarrick.

So-called 'Pope' Gregory I never affirmed papal infallibility, hence he was a heretic, hence he could not possibly have been pope.

In fact, since Peter denied Christ not just once but three times, he couldn't have been pope either and it follows that the papal office has never been occupied. Which leaves it wide open for the good Vicar.

Dear Father. You've got to they harder.

The path from Faith to sedevacantism is not as hard as it may seem the first time the idea invades your intellect unbidden.

ABS is of the opinion that the key to arriving at that demented destination is contained in the word itself.

The path to this position of petulant perdition is as simple as:

Pull up a Sede and Vacante your mind

For the Faithful, below is a link to the wonderful Rad Trad explaining to his readers that what we have to contend with during this execrable ecclesiastical epoch is not so shocking when compared to our past.

It really is very funny, lurching between irony and slapstick. The article is easy to find, search "Vicar Hunwicke".

Fr Anthony Cekada as he is called presumes to lecture you on Papal authority : "Uh, that’s why Catholics have popes, Vicar Hunwicke — to settle matters. Romish theology, you know."

This from the man who denies that we have had a Pope for the past half-century!

A silly man, proven so by his own pen - "... with twee remarks over sherry after Choral Evensong." "... we could start a fundraiser to buy the Vicar some proper bifocals." Once one descends to insults one has lost both argument and credibility.

Some mothers do 'ave 'em!

Dear Father. Sedes think of their own selves as the brave and bold, the few, the proud, unlike others who do not see things as clearly as do they.

Their spiritual pride blinds them to the truth that it is they who are the weak and scattered sheep.

ORIGINAL PRAYER TO ST MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

O Glorious Archangel St. Michael, Prince of the heavenly host, be our defense in the terrible warfare which we carry on against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, and spirits of evil.

Come to the aid of man, whom God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist Thee, nor was there place for them any longer in heaven. That cruel, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan, who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels.

Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men; his depraved mind, corrupt heart, his spirit of lying, impiety, blasphemy, his pestilential breath of impurity and of every vice and iniquity. These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the Spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most holy Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered.

Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate Thee as their protector and patron; in Thee Holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to Thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly conciliate the mercies of the Lord; and beating down the dragon, the ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, do Thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.

Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered, hostile powers.
The Lion of the tribe of Judah has conquered, the root of David.
Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord
As we have hoped in Thee.
O Lord, hear my prayer.
And let my cry come unto Thee
LET US PRAY

God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy name, and we humbly implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin Immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious Archangel St. Michael, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all other unclean spirits, who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Pope Leo XIII, 1888

Raccolta 1933 (Partial Indulgence)

++++++++ end quote ++++++++

While alive, the scattered sheep have both Satan and Jesus on their side but they choose to side with Satan and all of this is happening at the very same time they accuse others of suffering diabolical delusion.

St Peter didn’t become Pope until after the Resurrection.

My dear Father Hunwicke: you Must Keep an Eye on Those Grandchildren. As careful as I am, my 6 year old grandson Evan assures me he LOVES my coffee. I am so relieved that he doesn't pay attention to my beverage later in the evening, at Pinot Grigio time. No doubt he'd be asking his parents for some. Do be careful.

Oh, crubs. That Cekada.

About the only good thing I know about him is that he does support musicians and at least one young composer. Unfortunately, drawing a kid into the sedevacantist world is not helping his career any more than it helps his soul.

Southern Ohio has had its very dark times, true. But as things have gotten better, the sedevacantists emerged instead of folks getting unified. Makes no sense to me.

Anyway, if I were not on the Internet so much I would not know this guy existed, so their group does not have much traction.

To ABS. "...not so shocking when compared to our past." Depends how one looks to it. None of the Marozia's progeny wrote encyclicals, apostolic exhortations and like, pretending to deal with teachings of faith and morals. At least history has not preserved such. RadTrad mentioned John XII invoking pagan gods when practicing aleatorics. Would this count as sin of heresy?
