If, with these magisterial words of S Leo, we thought and spoke of the Lord's Cross as as His Judgement Seat in the face of the World, how powerful that would be!

I've read on good authority that The Judge was in session, even while he rested in His mother's womb.
Moreover, I think it likely that S Leo had John 12:31 in mind when he said this.
