HELP!
I have received a request from a 'Syrian Orthodox' priest to use S Thomas's once a month for a congregation drawn, I gather, from the Indian diaspora. I take it that they are what we used to call the 'Monophysites'. I am very inclined to accede to this request; but I would welcome any information readers could give me about them: I have of course googled and looked at a couple of websites they recommended, but it would be immensely helpful if anybody could put a bit of flesh to the facts; and if anybody had had personal dealings with them.

I think Fr Leslie Pinfield SSC at (a very different) St Thomas's, Huddersfield might have a Syrian Orthodox congregation using his church building...
Ask them if they accept the concils. If not then shun them as hereitics
Fr. Hunwicke, it seems to me that it would be best to seek your bishop's counsel on this matter; in a situation where two groups of Christians are not in communion with one another, it strikes me as best to keep the bishop, who guarantees communion with the wider church, in the loop.
I think you may find some problems with one of their anaphoras, that of Addai and Mari, which has, I believe, no words of consecration/Institution.
I thought Rome had now given reasons why Addai and Mari, despite having no Institution narrative, is a valid rite. I trust Pastor in Shoreham doesn't question the Roman Magisterium ...
