Father Zed ...

... can't be moving to a Sabine Farm, can he?

  1. Father 'Z' has said for many a year that he lives on the Sabine farm.

  2. Of late years, he has been living in the cupboard under the stairs.

  3. I do read his blog but have some doubts about him. His source of income seems to be begging but he's not a mendicant. He is incardinated in Velletri-Segni (Italy) but appears to swan about the USA as he pleases. I thought Canon Law prohibits acephalous priests but Fr Z seems fairly close to being one. We're frequently told by our dear bishops that there's a shortage of priests so I don't understand why Fr Z isn't assigned duties in a parish. For the avoidance of doubt, I don't claim Fr Z is doing anything wrong but his position seems to me, shall we say, unusual.

  4. For what my recollection of such things is worth, Father Zuhlsdorf did formerly live on a farm or in a house in rural parts near Madison i.e. 'the Sabine Farm'. He had to move from it, no idea why; there are times when I stay away from the Internet and I missed any explanations. After a sojourn in Rome?-- am vague about the chronology, obviously-- and since returning to Madison, he's lived in (so far as I understand it) some unsplendid diocesan building ("in the cupboard under the stairs"). I have no idea what upset or move is come or is coming following the parting of ways between Mons Hying and Fr Zuhlsdorf. Perhaps there is a reconciliation.
