Bullies

Earlier in this pontificate, I received a letter from a friend which included these words: "You will know that all of us who require the nihil obstat of the Holy See for our work have been threatened with its removal if we identify with any formal criticism. I received a renewal of this 'advice' only this morning".

Lovely lot, these Bergoglians, aren't they?

  1. I'm happy to provide a Nihil Obstat for anyone who needs one. Reasonable rates, quick turnaround.

  2. However one defines the cause, surely something is wrong in Catholic World. Thank you for your bravery.

  3. I knew this had happened, merely by observing that many who had supported the dubia and previous letters and appeals to Bergoglio, were coming out of the woodwork to bash the Open Letter. Their criticisms had exactly that cogency that springs from having a knife at one's throat.

  4. But it is all for a good cause. The cause is so good, it is in fact the only worthwhile cause there is. His Humbleness intends to bring about peace, unity and equality of all mankind (my apologies, it is peoplekind). Initially he hoped to achieve it in no more than three years, and then retire. Who could have predicted that a cause such as his might not inspire everyone to joyfully submit? Those who foolishly interfere with the "irreversible" changes he is introducing to the unchangeable in the spirit of the unfolding of the universe toward the One, the Christ-consciousness, are deserving of treatment owed to a mosquito... It occurs to me that a mosquito is one of precious earth's species worthy of protection. Whoever stands in the way of progress toward the inevitable Oneness deserves a swift response not unlike the kind mosquitoes have unjustly been receiving.

  5. In the secular world, targeting and bullying happen, probably not infrequently.
Power corrupts, and power in the wrong hands is always dangerous. People suffer, including innocent people. People who mean well, people who are trying to do the right thing.
The powerful always seem to prevail. Those of us at the relative bottom try to hang on, and sometimes we do and sometimes we don't. Sometimes we will suffer, sometimes we are literally weeded out. It is something you don't even expect in the secular world, hoping that most people are good and decent people, but the truth is, there are quite a lot of mean and possibly even evil people out there, hoping to cause mischief to others. When it happens in the world which is considered the church, it is horrifying. We expect the secular world to be rotten, but the men in the church are supposed to be concerned with holiness, not vendettas, but we see they are.
But our eyes are now wide open, and we see the men in the church are just as rotten as many of those out here in the world. So hang on, Fr. Hunwicke, because no good deed goes unpunished in this world. God bless you and may He keep watch over you and all who care so deeply for Christ and the faith you are compelled to speak truth against error.
