Immaculata

News that the refugee Franciscans of the Immaculate, to whom Bishop Egan gave a parish in Gosport, are to start up an internet radio station called Immaculata. On December 8.

I've not heard of a diocese that goes with more of a fizz than Portsmouth. Although there is good news of Plymouth under Mark O'Toole, who was so friendly to the Ordinariate clergy when we were paying our visits to Allen Hall during his rectorship there ...

  1. Following the example, of course, of another Franciscan, St Maximilian Kolbe, who ran a radio station in Poland called Radio Maria.

  2. God's Port? What a fitting name for a fraternal refuge!

  3. Of all the accusations against the FFI the only one that half-stuck was their enthusiasm for the traditional mass. It does look as though Pope Francis really does not like the TLM and one wonders if that dislike alone prompted him to put the FFI into special measures. The other accusations of improper alienation of property (firmly disproved by the Italian courts) and doctrinal errors (never substantiated) were merely added to bolster a case against them. It seems that once again there has been intemperate behaviour.

  4. Excellent news. And we're still hoping that Bournemouth will get its Oratory (one of the priests who was going to come has been very ill). Bishop Philip is a wonderful Ordinary: his pastoral letters are superb, too. He doesn't seem to be frightened of anyone or anything (including the Meeja).

Well, actually St. Maximillian started Radio Niepokalanów (named so after his friary). Radio Maryja (I give the Polish spelling) is a radio station operating now, started by a redemptorist, Fr. Tadeusz Rydzyk.
