I see that Wikipedia attributes the drafting of the VI definition of Infallibilty to Cardinal Cullen of Dublin, whom it also describes as an Ultramontanist. The ultramontaism of Cullen and his friend George Errington, Archbishop of Trebizond (sometime coadjutor of Westminster) was certainly very different from the Neo-ultramontanism of Manning and Ward.
